Collective Worship
Collective Worship in School
Our focus in collective worship this term is linked to our value of 'Thankfulness'.
On a Monday, collective worship is led by Mrs Plows or our vicar Rev.James and is focussed on our school values and how we live them out.
On a Tuesday, collective worship is led by Mrs Osborne and we learn to sing together and use music to develop our sense of spirituality.
On a Wednesday, collective worship is led by Mrs Chapman and uses resources from the Diocese of Guilford. We begin the academic year with a unique set of themes based on an exhibition 'Threads Through the Cross' that will be hosted by Guildford Cathedral between 25th September and 3rd November. Whilst it might seem strange to be focussing on the salvation story at this point in the school year, we hope that the endpoint of Advent and Christmas will be more meaningful having understood the journey to the Cross. We will also be linking to many ‘Autumn term’ themes that are a natural part of school life as children settle in to a new term, getting familiar with routines, school values and key events. In the Advent period of the final 3 weeks of term, we will be featuring on 'Messages of Hope'.
On a Thursday, collective worship is led by Miss Clydesdale using the Picture News resources which also link to the British Values and Protected Characteristics.
On a Friday, collective worship is led by Mrs Osborne and focusses on a celebration of our learning and achievements from our community. All children are welcome to bring in awards and celebrations from activities outside of school to share with everyone. Parents, carers and families are welcome to join us for this worship each week and if your child is receiving an award, you will be notified in advance via an email from the school office.
